Why Did Andrew Tate Retire From Kickboxing?
Cobra Tate gave up kickboxing and focused his full time on his webcam company. He thought that if he was serious about it, there would be an opportunity for him and his brother Tristan Tate to become rich. He was also right, as he grew The Real World from a few hundred subscribers to more than 200,000 paying him $49 a month.
Money was probably a major factor in his decision to retire, as he knew kickboxing wouldn’t make him the money that boxing would. He told an interviewer that he was a world champion in kickboxing, but that kickboxing wasn’t the same as boxing. I would make $100,000 per fight but I did not consider myself wealthy. “That’s the real reason I retired.”
He said he realized one day that although he spent 6.5 hours a day on his job, he would never be rich. However, if he had used that time and effort to make money he could have easily become a millionaire.
He had other reasons for retiring besides the money. Tate, for example, had to undergo invasive surgeries after he suffered multiple eye injuries. He was concerned that further damage to his eyes could occur and retired while he had good eyesight.
He said that his eyes were worth more than a belt. Perhaps when I was 22, 23, or older, it would have been different.
Tate has flirted with the idea of returning to the ring after a few years’ retirement. Tate competed in two kickboxing bouts in 2020. He spars with Tristan, his brother who is also a good kickboxer.
