The Family Chantel: Reasons Why Chantel Must Continue Paying Pedro After Their Split

Pedro Jimeno files a divorce with his wife Chantel. But fans of The Family Chantel were shocked to discover that he also wants her income.
The divorce between Chantel Jimeno and Pedro Jimeno has ignited heated debates among The Family Chantel and 90-Day Fiance viewers. Many 90-Day Fiance supporters have strong feelings regarding Pedro’s feeling entitled to Chantel’s income.
The latest episode of The Family Chantel Season 4 revealed Pedro’s desire to divorce Chantel and ask for half of Chantel’s income.
Many fans of The Family Chantel have been outraged by Pedro, and are confused as to why he should be entitled to her money when they do not have children together.
Chantel and Pedro, who had overcome their family tensions to star in a spin-off series of 90 Days Fiance, were once the golden couple.
Pedro’s feelings towards Chantel appear to have waned between the third season and the fourth. The Dominican Republic native seems to be frustrated by his wife and wants to end their five-year marriage.
Pedro met with an attorney for divorce and learned that, because he had been in the United States for five years already, Chantel no longer needed to apply for citizenship. He decided to take half of Chantel’s future earnings.
The divorce lawyer for Pedro informed him that Chantel’s financial obligations to Pedro have not changed, as she has agreed to sponsor Pedro’s K-1 visa and to provide financial support.
According to Pedro’s attorney, Chantel is required to continue financially supporting Pedro until he stays in the country for 10 years.
The website of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services states that after signing an affidavit, you “accept legal responsibility for financial support of sponsored immigrant (s), in general until they become U.S. Citizens or are credited 40 quarters of employment.”
Many The Family Chantel supporters question Pedro’s ethics when he appears to be entitled to Chantel’s future earnings.
Pedro said that he felt responsible for Chantel’s graduation from nursing school and that she became a registered nurse. He believes that a part of her income belongs to him.
He said that asking for only half her income was reasonable. Chantel and Pedro fans may remember the couple talking about a prenuptial contract.
Chantel may have refused to sign the prenup during the show but it’s believed she did so to protect her heirloom. Her assets and earnings will most likely have to be split with Pedro.
Pedro and Chantel weren’t the first 90-Day Fiance franchise couples to bring up the issue of debt. Kalani Faagata weighed her divorce options and realized her father would still owe money to Asuelu.
The Family Chantel is a popular show, but many viewers are outraged at Pedro’s attitude. Pedro is an active real estate agent and can sustain himself financially.
The Family Chantel viewers believe Pedro is arrogant for claiming credit for Chantel’s successes and requesting her future earnings once he has a full-time job.
