Sheila lives in Cebu, Philippines. She met Omaha man David through a deaf social media group. David has been deaf from birth. Sheila’s hearing was lost in childhood after she damaged her auditory eardrum playing with a broomstick.

Sheila and David’s main issue seems to be that she cannot communicate using American Sign Language. David’s friends and family warned him that Sheila could be a scammer. During the first two years of their relationship, David gave Sheila more than $3000. 

In a recent episode, David learned about Sheila’s poverty after visiting her home. Sheila was worried David would think she was only after her money when he visited her house, but David was devastated. David was saddened by the damage to her house caused by a typhoon and fire.

Sheila has elderly parents

Sheila introduced her parents for the first time to the viewers in 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days Episode 2. Simplicity and Remedios, Sheila’s parents, put on their biggest smiles when Sheila showed the cameras her home. Sheila’s family knew that David was going to visit them.

Sheila worried that David would not like their house. She was grateful for David’s support of her and her family by sending monthly money, as she had lost her job. 

David finally met Simplicio at Sheila’s house. Sheila’s father sat near the dangerous and narrow entrance to the house, while Remedios sat upstairs in an area accessible only by shaky steps.

David Must Help Sheila Cope with Her Loss

David attempted to have a short conversation with Sheila’s father, with Aimee as an interpreter. Simplicio told David that he found it “difficult to speak to him”, which David mistakenly thought was due to his deafness. 

David spent the night at Sheila’s house. According to the preview of episode 9, David and Sheila were woken up by an “awful” thing. The clips showed David attempting to comfort Sheila who was weeping uncontrollably. 

Sheila probably lost one of her parents. David is the only one who can help Sheila through this difficult time. David’s presence, even if not in words, will comfort Sheila.

Sheila could push David away if she is feeling sad

David will not be able to take Sheila’s pain away but he can help her to cope. Sheila may prefer to go through the grieving process alone. David will need to be patient. He will have to be patient and give Sheila some time. David is only in Cebu with Sheila for a couple of days. 

It’s their first meeting. The 90-Day Fiance series has barely given them time to get acquainted. David’s choice of how to comfort Sheila could determine if the relationship will last.
