Kara moved to the Dominican Republic to live with Guillermo, and they soon became engaged. Kara had to return home to Charlottesville, Virginia, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Guillermo's K-1 visa was finally approved nine months later. The young couple is now preparing to begin their lives together in the United States.

Guillermo is finally reunited with Kara in the 90 Day Fiancé Season 9 trailer, but he is nervous about starting his life in the United States. "I don't have butterflies," he tells the cameras. "I'm carrying an octopus inside of me."
Guierromo questions Kara about her history of infidelity two days before their wedding. "You have a history of cheating on people," he says. "Do you even trust me?" she asks. "I mean, right now, I don't even know," he says. Kara becomes defensive and asks Guierromo if they're even going to proceed with the marriage.
